Tolon : Habib defeats NPP MP to lead party in 2020 elections


Alhaji Habib Iddris has defeated Member of Parliament(MP) for the Tolon Constituency, Hon. Wahab Suhuyini Wumbei in the just ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.

A certified results from the various electoral areas reveal that Mr. Habib who is a Manager of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) in charge of Tema area polled 337 out of a total votes of 534 to beat the incumbent who managed to get about 200 votes.

The outgoing MP has held the position for close to 8 years and would have led the party for the third time, if he had won this primaries to lead the party in 2020 December polls.

Alhaji Habib Iddris was the NPP’s candidate for the Sagnarigu constituency in the last elections, where he was defeated by the former deputy northern regional minister and current minority spokesperson on communication, Alhaji A. B. A. Fuseini.

Mr. Habib will be slugging it out with National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Mr. Adam Naanyema, a businessman for the 2020 elections.
