It is not MP’s duty to construct roads ; but government’s – A. B. A. Fuseini

Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu consitituency, Alhaji A. B. A. Fuseini has said that it is not the work of MP’s to construct roads in their constituencies.

He made these comments, when he was addressing the media in constituency, following a “reshapping works” on some community roads in the area.

“That is why we have feedaroads. Urban roads. Ministry of roads. So it for government to construct roads, not MP. How can MP use his “pocket money” to construct roads? It is government who should do that. Roads construction fundamentally is for government. That is why we pay taxes”, he noted.

“That is why when NPP in opposition promised to construct some roads in Sagnarigu following a request by them, they couldn’t, because it was for the government then to do it”, he added.

Answering questions why some politicians promise to do road projects as development agents during campaign, he said they are doing that hoping to successfully lobby to get the projects for their people.

The Sagnarigu legislator was of the view that the NPP government promise of making 2020 a year of roads has been a scam.

According to him, the economy is not good for the government to execute such an expensive plan, adding that COVID-19 should not be used as an excuse.
