Investigative Journalist and freelancer, Manasseh Azure Awuni has advised the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop fighting for the dead body of the late former president Jerry John Rawlings with the Nana Addo led government and move on, adding that he deserves state burial than political party.

Manasseh’s comments came following the disappointment expressed by the NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia that president Akufo-Addo and his party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) are trying to “highjack” the late president’s funeral.

According to the editorial consultant of Ghana Report, it is impossible for the party to make peace with dead man, when it could no do so when he was alive.

“Why fight over the funeral of a man who fell out with your party long before his death? He was closer to Akufo-Addo than you”, Manasseh wrote.

“If you couldn’t make peace with him, you cannot make peace with his dead body. Move on. He deserves a state, not a party, burial”, he further emphasized in another post on Facebook.

The NDC is saying the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo is deliberately making it difficult for the party and its flagbearer, John Drammani Mahama to properly mourn the late former president, Jerry John Rawlings.

They alleged the NDC’s delegation was not given proper reception, when former president John Drammani Mahama led his entourage to the Ridge recidence of the late president Rawlings.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia speaking on Citi Eyewitness further alleged the state security didn’t treat them well, and they went to International Conference Center to sign the book of condolence, they couldn’t find it.
