The 2020 parliamentary candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sagnarigu constituency, Madam Felicia Tetteh says she is coming back to contest the seat in 2024.

Madam Felicia who is also a school feeding program coordinator in the Northern Region said this when she was interacting with the media at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council on December 11, 2020.

“Definitely, with the hard work that we have put in, we will not leave unattended and I am coming back hard and I will make sure that I keep the youth, the women because I have been telling them we are in together”, she said.

“I am very happy; I haven’t won but I have made a very huge difference in the politics of Sagnarigu” she added.

She polled 26,434, representing 43.04 percent against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate who went into the elections seeking reelection, but managed to get 34,989 votes.

Madam Felicia also made history of winning 42 ballot boxes out of 156 ballot boxes, reducing the gap between the NDC and NPP from 19, 000 to 8, 000.

Praising the NPP PC, the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed described her as a “new phenomena” in northern politics, assuring the people of Sagnarigu that Madam Felicia will be part of the new government to formed by president Akufo-Addo.

“What is happening is that Hon Felicia Tetteh is a new phenomenon in the politics of northern Ghana giving the fact that she was the only female candidate in the elections in the Northern region and that is where I am calling on the gender activists to thank and praise this young lady who has applied herself to win and bring meaning to the gender balance that the UN and other development partners are advocating for” the minister said.

Many political analysts described her as over ambitious lady who dared into area he could not make an impact.

The member of parliament for the area, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini dared her to win just a single ballot box, adding that she was going to be defeated heavily.
