The Northern Regional minister designate, Alhassan Saani Shaibu, widely known as Mr. Saani Bakery, has thanked the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for reposing confidence in him, advising supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain steadfast, patient and “never get tired working for the party”.

He gave the advice when he was speaking exclusively to Tamale based Suhupieli FM following his nomination by the president yesterday, January 21 as Northern Regional minister.

According to him, young politicians should always believe that loyalty and hard work pay, and this will not be possible, if one throws his hands in despair.

“In 2017, I didn’t get such opportunity to be part of the government, but, it never demoralized me. I kept giving my best, knowing my time will come”, Mr. Saani said.

“I have always believed there is a reward for everything. And so, if you work hard, it will pay off, though, it may take long. but, don’t get despair”, he added.

He disclosed that he started working for the party in 1978, when it was known then as UP, which has metamorphosised into the current NPP.

He was the northern regional campaign coordinator for the then candidate Akufo-Addo, when he was vying for the party’s flagbearership position in 2007.

Mr. Saani worked as NPP northern regional organizer, from 2005 to 2009.

He was also the party’s 2012 parliamentary candidate in the Mion constituency, who lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate by little over five hundred (500) votes.

Until his appointment, he was a member of the party’s 2020 campaign team and of NPP council of elders in the Region.

He is an entrepreneur, a contractor a farmer.
