A Tamale based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Girls Empowerment Mission (GEM) has donated to the Nyohani children’s home in the capital of Northern Region, today February 20, 2021.

The donation includes pre-owned clothes, footwear, detergents and an undisclosed amount of money worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

Presenting the donation to the management of the home of behalf of the organization, a member of GEM Ghana, Madam Ali Mariam said it was necessary the organization came to donate to the children to keep the home running.

“GEM Ghana – our main aim is to empower the girl child be serious in education. Be able to do away with things – the barriers that are preventing the girl child from going to school. We realize that if actually educate a lot of girls, it has a lot impact on the society”, she said.

“We have come to the home to see the children. They are orphans, and orphans belong to everybody. Whichever way you can help them, goes along way to improve their lives”, madam Mariam stated.

On her part, manageress of the home, Madam Janet Boama Enso thanked GEM Ghana for the support to the home, assuring the organization that they will put the items to good use.She however used the opportunity to appealed to government, NGOs and individuals to come to their aide to resolve challenges facing the orphanage.

“We are so grateful to GEM GHANA for their donation. I will like to use this opportunity to also tell others that they should come and support us. Here, we have a lot of challenges : we need water. We don’t have water here. We also need people to come and build our wall…”, she appealed.

GEM-GHANA is a local NGO operating in Tamale, Ghana, with the aim to educate, inspire and empower girls and young women to discover and believe in their potentials to freely pursue their dreams to their best and live in dignity.
