Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South Constituency, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu has disclosed that he has a great passion for the development of skills and talent of the youth in football.
He made this revelation in an interview with Joynews at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where he plays football every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays to be precise.
The leader who doubles as MP for Tamale South Constituency described his relationship with those he plays the football with as a “bond of a family”.
Mr. Iddrisu emphasised the need to brand soccer in Ghana and the need to identify early talents in soccer in the country.
“So we have become a bond of a family. We socialize and we relate to each other, and this is the nucleus of the intraction that goes on.I’m passionate about football, and passionate about the development of football, and passionate about the development of skills and talent in every part of Ghana but in particular in Tamale and northern Ghana. I just look forward to the day when we will have another RTU or any team like Steadfast, qualifying to the premier league of Ghana”, the leader said
“And as I exchanged with you, we should brand soccer in Ghana. It needs to undergo some forms. We should assure… and allow them to bread that into football and soccer development. It’s now an exportable, so we should be able to identify the talent early, i’m emphasizing the early, not just the talent and then groom them for future”, he added.
The Manority Leader is the founder of Steadfast FC, a Ghanaian professional football club based in Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana.
As for the season 2020/21, the club competes in Zone One of the Division One League which is the second tier of the football league system in Ghana, and the MTN FA Cup.
The club plays their home fixtures at the Tamale Stadium, and are rivals with city neighbours Real Tamale United and Tamale City FC.
Ghana’s sensational midfielder, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was chosen as Player of the Tournament after Ghana’s triumphant display at the just-ended U20 AFCON in Mauritania.
He plays for Steadfast FC and was named the player of the tournament after scoring two goals in 6 games for Ghana.
