Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South Constituency who doubles as Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has begun dredging of dams for the people of Three (3) communities in the constituency.

The MP was in Manguli today, April 1, 2021 to see for himself, the progress of work on the dam that will serve communities surrounding Sanzirigu and Manguli communities in Tamale South.

In an interview with the NDC’s communications officer, Abdul Ganiyu Sandow, he disclosed that the MP is dredging dams of three (3) communities in the constituency.

“We are Dredging three dams (courtesy our MP) – Manguli, Sanzirigu and Kalariga. This is something which has become an annual ritual in our Constituency.
Thats why i repeatedly say Dredging is a seasonal matter for Hon Haruna Iddrisu”, he revealed.”

An excavator will spend not less than 4days in each dam. Cost of excavator per day is 3000 gh cedis. But Haruna Iddrisu thinks the people deserve pipe water rather tham dam water. He’s therefore called on the water company to ensure adequate supply of water to the residents”, Mr. Sandow added

It will be recalled that residents of Manguli in an interview on March 22 this year, the residents said they were struggling with acute water crisis, and the dam which is the only source of drinking water in the area is gradually drying up.

“We are struggling with water shortage here in Manguli. The situation is alarming. And we have over 50 communities drinking from the only dam in this area. So we are calling on everybody, particularly, the MP, Haruna Iddrisu to come to our aide”, the residents told the media.
