The Northern Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mohammed A. Baantima Samba has called on the supporters of the party that have engaged in press conferences with the aim to project their “presidential candidates” to stop or risk being dealt with.
His call was necessitated by recent press conferences by groups that have both identified themselves as “Concerned Northern Grassroots of NPP”, with one condemning the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, while the other one lauding him for his non-Akan flagbearer comment.
Chairman Samba said, “This ugly phenomenon, if not nibbed in the bud, has the tendeney of disturbing party peace and cohesion and drawing back on the performance of the government of H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo”
The chairman in the release is directing party supporters to suspend their activities of preferred candidates untill the party gives green light to do so.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to media houses to seek clarification from groups claiming to becoming from the NPP before engaging them.
“1. Henceforth, all party people are to respect the directive to suspend all activities related to the conduet of presidential primaries until such a time that the green light is given for people to so do. 2. That all media engagements related to the above should cease forthwith”, he gave directive in the statement.
“Failiure to adhere to the above will atract disciplinary measures as the regional exeeutive committece is not ready to allow a chaotic front of the party in the region”, he added.
