A group belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the northern region, describing itself as the true Concerned Northern Grassroots of NPP has reacted to the press by another group that earlier on identified itself as Concerned Northern Grassroots of NPP, insisting that the NPP has no excuse to use Akan as flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
The group said this in a press release copied to this portal following the press conference by their colleagues reacting to the non-Akan candidate comments by the majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
It also described the said group as “unknown political mercenaries”, emphasising that they, the true Concerned Northern Grassroots of NPP has disassociated itself from the press conference yesterday.
This group believes the majority leader’s comment was well thought and must be considered by the party to kill the NDC’s mischief in 2024.

The attention of the leadership of Concerned Northern Grassroots of NPP has been drawn to a poorly issued statement by unknown political mercenaries in the name of our beloved dedicated group.
The said release purporting to be coming [from] us seeks to portray the group as having a different opinion to that of the Majority Leader.
Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu opined that it won’t be good for another Akan to lead the Party after a successful 8 year tenure of His Excellencies John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Danqua Akufo-Addo.
Concern Northern Grassroots of NPP wishes to state emphatically and in clear terms that it didn’t author the said release and [the] people who hide in the dark to issue that release are not known to the group or the party in the region. They are cowards who try to hide behind our solid records in the campaign to ride to fame.
For the avoidance of doubt; Concern Northern Grassroots of NPP wishes to state that the group sees nothing wrong in Leader’s statement and are solidly behind the assertion made by him and wish to add their voice to the millions of party supporters who also think same.
Allowing a non Akan to lead the party will neutralize the mischief from the NDC who claims the NPP is anti northerners and it is also the only antidote to breaking the famous 8. Among the non Akans in the NPP, Dr Bawumia’s records stands tall however as stated by Majority Leader, it is too early for such declarations.
The party has come a long way to allow these shadowy and mirage individuals who only appear during internal elections to disturb the peace and the tranquility the party is currently enjoying. We won’t allow any individual to use our name to fame.
Notice is hereby served to these faceless people to desist from such attempts as they will be met with with equal measure if not more, and squarely in the mud. We entreat the general public to disregard the desperate attempt by these self seeking individuals who want to use the name of our group to gain favours and pay rise from their desperate bosses.
We repeat; to break the famous 8, we need a non Akan candidate for 2024 general elections.
Long Live NPP
Long Live Busia-Danquah-Dombo
