The suspended Angel FM and Television morning show host, Godsbrain Smart popularly called Captain Smart is wondering why media in the country is silent over unfulfilled promises by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), concluding that the media has failed the nation.
Captain Smart said this in an exclusive interview with Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana’s host, Paul Adom Otchere on Thursday’s evening, May 6, 2021.
He was speaking for the first time after his suspension due to “so much pressure coming from left- right-centre” on the founding President of ABN, Dr Kwaku Oteng.
“Ghana must go beyond where we are today. First war against galemsey what happened? We succeeded. To a certain extent, but the political will went away. My vice president said that 2 years into Nana Addo Danquah government, no community, this is what Dr. Bawumia said will ever have water problem and toilet problem. Is Central Hill having water? When you give me timeline, expect me to be quiet? You haven’t done that. So, why is the media quiet?”, Captain Smart asked.
“I love Nana Addo. I like him. I respect him. I will continue to pray for him to be able to achieve something for this country. When things are wrong? Habba, masa! Sometimes, you can have a good leader who is lazy. It will take the media to push that leader to work. Are we pushing the leaders? Anytime you have a failed media, you have a failed country”, he added.
According to Captain Smart, after his show on Wednesday, Samuel Kofi Acheampong a.k.a Bronzy who is the Chief Executive Officer of ABN called him on the phone telling him that “there is so much pressure coming from left- right-centre” on the founding President of ABN, Dr Kwaku Oteng, so he Captain Smart should call the President of ABN.
So, I called Dr Kwaku Oteng and he said some people within […] Akufo-Addo’s government are calling him and have been writing him letters from Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) just because they say I talk too much.
Smart said that he asked why and Oteng explained that he, Captain Smart, had stated in one of his morning shows that Akufo-Addo, Dr Bawumia, Alan Kyerematen and the IGP are fools.
He told Oteng that the information was false and even declared his intention to apologise on-air if evidence was brought that he (Captain) he called those be people fools as being alleged.
He (Oteng) thus told me to stay away until such a time the pressure will cool off.
