Muslim Youth across various social media platforms have hailed the spokesperson to the Chief Imam, Sheikh Shaibu Aremeyawu and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawaase constituency, Muntaka Mubarak for what they described as “honest response” over the ongoing Wey Gey Hey fasting brouhaha.
Some of the youth, highly incensed by the comments of the Christian Council, while calling the leadership of the council “hypocrites” for saying that the Chief Imam’s P. R. O. should withdraw and apologize over his comments that the long-held view that there is religious tolerance in Ghana is a “facade”.
Notable among the angry Muslim youth is the former MP for Kumbungu constituency, Alhaji Ras Mubarak saying ; “Without apology, I stand with Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu. People who are religious bigots ought to be called out.”
Meanwhile, a proud practicing Christian and one of Ghana’s top journalists, Manasseh Azure Awuni has taken to his Facebook page to condemn Christian Council of Ghana and Catholic Bishops’ Conference on their position on the matter.
According to him, the two (2) bodies have not demonstrated enough maturity in dealing with such delicate situation.
“Christian Council of Ghana and Catholic Bishops’ Conference, you have not demonstrated maturity and wisdom in this matter”, the not too happy Manansseh wrote.
