Member of Parliament (MP) for Mion Constituency in the Northern Region, Musah Abdul-Aziz Ayaaba has cut sod for the complete renovation of 6 classroom block of Jimli Primary School supported by his colleague, MP for Asin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
The project, according to the Mion legislator is in fulfillment of the promises made to the people during the campaign for the 2020 elections last year.
Speaking to the media during the ceremony, Mr. Aziz disclosed that the total cost of the project is about one hundred and thirty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 130, 000), which is expected to be completed in one (1) month.
“We are here to hand over the school site to a contractor to undertake rehabilitation exercise of 6 classroom block. We were here with the community (during the campaign) and my good friend and mentor, Kennedy Agyapong made appeal to the community that if I became the MP, he would help out this in good shape to improve teaching and learning in the school”, he said.
“And that is exactly what we are here to do. To ensure we fulfill the promise. The Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is the brain behind it. I am only the facilitator. We are going to make sure the school is put into proper shape as promised”, he added.
Thanking the Asin Central MP for the kind gesture on behalf of the school management, P. R. O. for the school, Amadu Haruna said this is the first time the school is getting a major renovation since its establishment in 1981.
He said they could not thank the Mr. Kennedy Agyapong enough for the timely intervention, adding that many of the appeals they made to individuals and organisations did not yield results until the Asin Central MP came in.
“We are very thankful to the MP for Asin Central, Kennedy Agyapong. This is a problem that has been with us for a very long time. We have written letters to personalities. Uncountable. And it has yielded no results. This is the time we pushed to the wall (faced with destruction of the school by storm) and thank God the contract has come. This is a time intervention and we are grateful to the member of parliament. We have been hearing about his generousity and this is the time we are also feeling it”, the P. R. O. stated.
Musah Abdul-Aziz Ayaaba representing the governing NPP polled 21, 552 votes to beat the incumbent MP, Mohammed Abdul-Aziz of NDC who had 14, 158 to emerge as winner for the 2020 elections.
