69 boss, Sherrif Abdul-Majeed, known in the showbiz as Maccassio has listed top-5 best singers in northern music, dropping Lil K De Gonga from the list, as he describes his style as “outmoded”.
The self-styled Rappers’ Jack made the comments on Radio Tamale’s weekends talkshow dubbed – Tamale Chartshow, hosted by Halik Musah, a.k.a. Mr. Tell on Saturday, 19 June, 2021.
According to him, Lil K does not want to adjust himself to modern style of music, but chooses to remain in the past.
Naming his top-5 rappers, he said Don D from Taaka music is not powerful to be party of the list, saying “You know the people I have mentioned (Don D ) can’t compete with them. Fadlan, S K Y, Ataaka, Blessed D and the General King, King Macca on top.”
When asked by the host, to mention a separate list of top-5 singers in northern music industry, the rapper said, “Wiz Child, Fancy Gadam, One Nira, Don Sigli and Abu Sadiq.”
He believed Don Sigli should have been mentioned first, to him, he is the best among all.
Surprised, the host asked if the rapper think Lil K was worthy of mention in the list.
“Lil K is outmoded. ‘Daadaa way maa’. He is not updating himself. Music is like iPhone. If you not updating yourself, you will remain static. He is using the old style his seniors used to sing”, Maccassio stated.
Presently, the music industry has been inactive, with some calling on industry players to revive it.
