Immediate past Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak has announced that he is coming back to constest the upcoming constituency elections on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reconstitute its leadership in Parliament.
He made the comments on this Facebook page today, August 10, 2021.
“Let’s mobilize and energize the base. #Eyesontheprize #EyesOn2024”, he wrote.
It is still not clear what warranted the Facebook on the 2024 elections by the former Kumbungu MP.
Though, he has not specifically stated which constituency he is going, the video accompanying the text indicates he is going back to Kumbungu.
Ras Mubarak lost his bid to contest on the ticket of the NDC in the 2020 Parliamentary election in the party’s 2019 constituency primaries.
He was defeated by Dr. Hamza Adam, a lecturer at the University of Development Studies (UDS), who is now the MP for the area.
The votes difference was 401 for Dr Hamza Adam with Ras Mubarak polling 273, while the third contender, Baba Kukoga Nyini had 81 votes.
