The North Gonja district assembly, led by Mr. Eliasu Red Bawa, who is the District Chief Executive (DCE) has fixed the Busunu-Daboya road that was recently affected by rains in the area.

It will be recalled that Citinewsroom’s September 12 edition reported that, “The road between Busunu and Daboya has been cut off by floodwaters after a downpour on Saturday, September 11, 2021.”

The road is the only route connecting the capital of the North Gonja District to other towns like Tamale, Buipe, and Kumasi.

“The perennial unpredictable rainfall pattern, over flow of the banks of rivers and sometimes the opening of the Bagre Dam has resurfaced this year. It’s characteristic of the North Gonja District in seasons like this to suffer floods and it’s associated dangers and destructions”, the DCE’s aide wrote on Facebook.

“The Tachali bridge which is on the same route was also submerged thereby rendering that portion of the road inaccessible. Goods, services, vehicular and human activities were cut from the people of the District”, he added.

As urgent as it was and still is, the Hon DCE Adam Eliasu made contact with the necessary government agencies (Highways Authourity and Ministry of Roads and Highways), in the company of the MP Hon Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini, they were at the scene today with the contractor working on the road, Logistics Support Services to fix the road for life to return to normalcy.

Personnel, equipment and necessary materials were on site and work has started on that portion of the road, it’s expected that it will be fully fixed by close of work tomorrow.

The DCE and MP have also taken steps and necessary arrangements for the contractor to return to site as soon as possible and tackle the 25km road project to it’s fruition.
