A youth activist of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the northern region, known by his Facebook name as Elee Waala has predicted that some four (4) areas will witness destructions after the announcement of MMDCEs list by the local government today.

According to Mr. Elee, this is as a result of the delay in announcing the names of the various Chief Executive Officers of the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies by the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.

“Appointing DCE’S at the last minute when all hopes are lost will always attract bitterness among party faithfuls”, he wrote.

“When we begin to appoint DCE’S when many of the candidates still have hope in getting appointed somewhere in the government will reduce all the unnecessary tensions and demonstrations”, he added.

He believed Tamale, Sagnarigu, Yendi and Savelugu are the few to witness agitations from supporters of candidates who could not catch the eye of the appointing authority.

Obama, as he is popularly called used the opportunity to call on the party youth to be mindful of their words, adding that Tolon and Mion will be free from violence, because the MPs therein are in control.

“Tamale Metro, Sagnarigu municipal, Yendi municipal, and Savelugu District are the anticipated areas of destructions. Let’s be careful”, Obama observed.

“Tolon is expected to be cool no matter who is appointed because of power of order from the Chief of Tolon and their MP Hon Habib Iddrisu. Mion will also be calm even if majority are not in agreement with the President appointment. The Mp Hon Ayaba Abdul-Aziz Musah with the help of the Chiefs can sort out issues if the need arises”, he concluded.

The much-anticipated list of President Akufo-Addo’s appointees for the offices of metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs) will be made public on Sunday 19 September 2021 during a press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Asaase Radio can confirm.

The Minister of Local Government, Dan Botwe, will take his turn at the weekly briefing to put out the official list he received from the president this week.
