A native of Kalampur in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region believed to be in his late Forties Armeyaw Ndefeso has died following a chieftaincy clash between two communities over who is the recognized chief of the area.

According to some residents, the deceased was murdered on his way to attend a traditional Council meeting in Kpembe.

The situation has sparked some uneasy calm in the area following the death of Mr. Ndefeso.

A young man from the Kalampur community Amadu Sulemana who spoke in an interview said they will be a repraisal attack from their community if the issue is not addressed.

“We are not happy with the incident especially the death of our kinsman and will want to entreat the security apparatus in the area to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and dealt with accordingly”

Police in the area have since commenced investigation into the matter.

Police assessing the level of damage

This is the third time in five years such an incident has happened in the area claiming lives and property.

In 2016, some eight persons were killed with several others injured following an attack by unknown gunmen on the Kalampur community.

In 2017, the community was again attacked at dawn and six persons including children one Ibrahim Rauf and his uncle Salifu Atiku and two women were killed.

Salifu Atiku, and Ibrahim Rauf were the other two victims who lost their lives.
