The rejection of President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of Yendi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has come as a shock to many, but to those who witnessed his 2017 confirmation believed otherwise.

According to a source in the Municipality, the MCE knew he was not going to secure the 2/3 threshold, but was too full of himself to call for support.

“We all know he never had the numbers in 2017 to get confirmation. It was because the Regional Organizer masterminded the whole thing process to increase the votes”, the source alleged.

Some of these persons who spoke to ghdominancenews.com were convinced Alhaji Ahmed Abubakari Yussif couldn’t build that rapport to ease his way back to the assembly for the second time.

In 2017, it was reported that Alhaji Ahmed Abubakari Yussif on slimly slipped away from a rejection as the new Municipal Chief Executive by Members of the Yendi Assembly.

The reports said for the intervention of some NPP regional executives, the MCE nominee would have been disapproved.

The intervention stirred up confusion amidst allegations by some members of the assembly that the verdict of the people were stolen.

“In the midst of the deliberate confusion initiated, I saw the one of the regional executives collecting a chunk of the NO ballots and adding it to the YES ballots to the chagrin of us”- one of the assembly members speaking to journalists on a condition of anonymity alleged.

After the rumpus counting of was conducted and the nominee polled 31 out of 43 votes cast, and was subsequently inducted into office by the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed.
