A Ghanaian based non-governmental organization, Water-Lily Foundation in collaboration with its partners, African Friendship Union have commissioned mechanized borehole for the people of Botingli, a suburb of Savelugu.
The event took place on October 20, when the founder, Abdul-Samed Faisal Gunu together with members of Water-Lily foundation and Mr. Salifu Jamal who is the representative of African Friendship Union visited the community for the inauguration.
The establishment of the mechanised borehole became necessary when the residents began to entertain fears of the main source of water serving Botingli being dried up, as a results of the eminent dry season which would affect their daily activities and survival.
Special guests at the event include the former MP for Savelugu, Mohammed Abdul-Samed Gunu and MCE for the area, Hajia Ayeshetu Seidu.During the commissioning, Mr. Abdul-Samed Faisal Gunu, Mr. Salifu Jamal, Hon. Ayeshetu Seidu and Hon. Mohammed Abdul-Samed Gunu took turns to address the people, and encourage them to take good care of the borehole.
They also promised to work hand in hand with the community members to promote more developmental projects.A special committee from the community was set up to be in charge of the regular maintenance of the borehole.
The people of Botingli expressed their profound joy and gratitude to everyone, particularly to Water-Lily foundation and African Friendship Union for the love shown them.
