Following the story by ghdominancebews.com on the anger by a section of northern youth directed at the Media General over the organization’s inability to provide the two-bedroom house to the winner of TV3’s Mentor Reloaded in February 2020, the portal has learned why the winner and the station have found themselves in this situation.
Sources closed to both TV3 and Optional King indicate that it may take a donkey years for the station to provide the house to Mohammed Lukman, widely known as Optional King.
According to the sources, Emefs Construction Limited which partnered with TV3 to provide the ultimate prize, a two-bedroom house is unable to do so due to circumstances beyond its control.
The sources disclosed that the Emefs Construction Limited is asking the Media General to add additional amount of money for them to able to get the a new house for the winner.
This news portal has learned that Optional King is currently in Accra over the matter and he has so far spent close to three (3) months in the capital.
According to the sources, Emefs Construction Limited has since sold the two-bedroom house to someone at price far higher than at the cost it was initially partnering with the TV station.
When ghdominancenews.com contacted the man in the eye of the storm, Optional King to confirm if he has received the house, he said, “No!”, but declined to comment further.
Meanwhile, a story on Modern Ghana published in July last year titled – “Winners Of TV3 Mentor Reloaded Receive Their Prizes” said, “Management of Ghana’s leading television channel, TV3 Network, on Friday 10th July 2020 presented the winners of Mentor Reloaded with their prizes at a brief ceremony at the offices of the station.”
“Mohammed Lukman, popularly known as “Optional King” won Mentor Reloaded and received documentation for the ultimate prize, a two-bedroom house. He is also entitled to GHC50,000 worth of airtime across all Media General platforms – radio, television and digital”, it added.
