Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu constituency, Alhaji A. B. A. Fuseini has taken on the vice president, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia on his current campaign on digitizing the current to boost the country’s economy.

Responding to the vice president’s latest public lecture on Ghana’s digital economy, at the Ashesi University on Tuesday, the Sagnarigu legislator said he was shocked to notice the attention the Veep is giving to digitization instead of the economy as he did in the past.

“Today he is telling us that he is not running away from economy to digitization? What has changed? He has suddenly become Microsoft Bill Gate. He should simply agree that he needs help. And that he can not continue to defend the NPP as he used to do”, the minority ranking member on communications told Tudu Yeligbahira.

“This is a man who has led the country into this mess of debts. Even as we talk, a child born today has a share of the debts this government has incurred. We can’t believe him anymore”, A. B. A. added.

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia yesterday debunked assertions that he has ran away from economy to digitization, as he was known to be doing in the days of NPP in opposition.

Delivering a public lecture on Ghana’s digital economy, at the Ashesi University on Tuesday, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia explained that the economy and digitization are intertwined in the modern and one can not function without the other

“Unfortunately, many people still do not appreciate the link between digitization and economic development. I have heard some people ask why I have abandoned economics for digitization. Far from abandoning economics, the reality is that in this era, if you don’t digitize you will not have much of an economy, PERIOD! Indeed, digital policy is economic policy!”, he said.
