The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development has presented 616 supreme star motorbikes to assembly members in the Northern Region.

Presenting the motorbikes to the sixteen (16) Metro, Municipal and District assemblies, the Regional Minister, Alhaji Saani Alhassan said these are to facilitate and make governance at the local level effective and accessible.

“On behalf of all the 16 MMDCEs, I want to present this to all the assembly members. I just hope that this will be put to good use to help us in our local governance to facilitate the work of the assembly members”, the minister said.

He used the opportunity to reiterate that the mirrors and helmets that come with the motorbikes are not for nothing.

He appealed to the assembly members to demonstrate to their electorates that it is for their safety DVLA in collaboration with the mttdu is on the people to wear their helmets and register the motorbikes, by doing so.

Supplier of the motorbikes, Mr. Nana Asamoah on behalf of JSA Logistics Ghana Limited, who presented the motorbikes to the minister to be handed over to the assemblies said the company was fulfilling the agreement between it and the local government ministry which contracted it Todo the supply.

The Dean of Presiding Members in the Northern Region, Abdulai Mohammed who received the motorbikes on behalf of MDA members, thanked the government and promised to use the motorbikes for their intended purpose to improve rural development efforts.
