A non-governmental organization based in Northern Region, Girl Child Foundation has supported Sagnarigu Model School, giving a facelift to the school’s changing room.
The project which was sponsored by the organization initially was in dilapidated state, which needed urgent attention.
Girl Child Foundation funded the project which covered tiling of the changing room, plastering, fixing of metal gates, painting and installation of Water Tank.
The project which was sponsored by the group was to a tune of three (3) thousand Ghana cedis (3,000) raised through contribution of the members.
GCF is a charitable project that emerged from Eight (8) Msc. Development Management students of KNUST.
The changing room before
The aim of the project is to help address certain pressing needs in the society.
Girl Child Foundation aims to help the girl-child to access quality education and promote retention among them in school, Under the SDGs or Global goals, quality education and promoting sanitation management is one of the focal concern of the World, especially bridging Gender- based issues with much attention to females or women.
With this, GCF’s project seeks to help females by providing a condusive facility such as a changing room for them during their menstrual period. This will help encourage females to be at ease in school, reduce drop out and absenteeism in school.
The project also aims to provide sanitary pads for the students, since most of them cannot afford.
