RE: SAVANNAH REGIONAL NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY REACTS TO THE CLAIMS OF HON. ANDREW CHIWITEY AND THE MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT ON “NO SINGLE BOREHOLE IN SAVANNAH REGION”

Our attention has been drawn to a logically naived statement issued today by the NPP Savannah region seeking to respond to the member of parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency on his plea to the Akufo-Addo- Bawumia led government to as a matter of urgency provide boreholes and small town water systems for the Savannah and North east regions as promised with the funds allocated to them.

The statement as issued by the NPP is nothing but a warped, distorted piece only seeking to answer questions they have set for themselves and not what was presented by the member of parliament for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency, Hon Andrew Chiwitey.

For the purposes of clarity, below are the facts.

  1. Hon Andrew Dari Chiwitey, member of parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency asked the minister for sanitation and water resources, Hon Cecilia Abenah Dapaah to brief the house on the number of boreholes and small town water systems constructed under their government.(Kindly Find evidence attached)
  2. In response, the minister for sanitation and water resources, presented a list (Kindly find evidence attached) of boreholes purported to have been drilled and small town water systems constructed in some regions, constituencies and communities.
  3. It was realised in the minister’s own list that Zero(0) boreholes and small town water systems were constructed for the Savannah region and the North east region (Vice President Bawumia’s backyard)
  4. Hon Chiwitey then addressed the press, humbly pleading with Akufo-Addo and Bawumia to at least soften their hearts and remember the Savannah and North east regions in their allocations as promised as this is not the first time the Savannah region has been deliberately left out from similar distributions.

Questions now is,

  1. Between a document presented to parliament by the minister responsible for drilling boreholes and contructing small town water systems and a warped “chop bar” typed party release, which should be merited?

We wish to advise the NPP in the Savannah region to desist from parading individual donations or Non-government organisation (NGO) projects as theirs so as not to deter such philanthropists from supporting our region as it is evident now that the Akufo-Addo- Bawumia led government has nothing good to offer us.

We look forward to rather hearing from the NPP in the Savannah region about the state of the district hospitals promised us under agenda 111, the daboya bridge promised by Bawumia, the Damongo water system, the regional house of chiefs building, the 1-district 1-factory projects, the nabco recruits in the region, 1-million dollars per Constituency among many other palpable lies and deceptions instead of releasing defunct statements that further exposes their gruesome failures and insensitivity.
