Residents of Tolon Constituency have praised Member of Parliament MP for the area, who doubles as Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Alhaji Habib Iddris following the official commencement of the Tolon district hospital.

Speaking to today, Tuesday January 4, the residents hailed the MP for his efforts to get the facility running to deliver quality health care within the district.

According to them, Mr. Habib has demonstrated that he was voted to better the lives of the people, reason he took it upon himself to intervene during the non-operational period of the hospital.

“We want to use this opportunity to thank our MP, Hon. Soya-Lana for his efforts on this hospital issue. We know what he has been doing behind the scenes to get the hospital running”, the residents said.

“Now we can access quality healthcare here without traveling to Tamale. Our troubles will end today”, they added.

On his part, Medical Superintendent of the Tolon District Hospital, Dr. Osman Abdulai also thanked the chief for the area, Tolon Naa Sulemana Abubakari, the MP, and DCE for their continuous support.

He told the media that though the hospital officially begins today, the Chief and his elders organised Quranic recitation to last week for God’s guidance.

Dr. Osman revealed that hospital has every equipment to support operations is second to non in the region, in terms of district hospitals in the north.

The hospital is a 60-bed capacity including an Out-Patients Department, the emergency unit with a waiting ambulance, a laboratory, a rehabilitation centre, an obstetric and neonatal unit, a surgical ward, general bed ward, and a mortuary have all been fully furnished and ready to use.

It also has an administration block, staff changing facility, kitchen and laundry unit, and a waste management unit, while the outer and inner perimeters are fitted with fire hydrants, backup power generators and some solar systems as well as fenced.
