A member of the Communications Team belonging to to the governing New Patriotic Party NPP in Northern Region, Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem has been suspended for defying directives banning any form of campaign for presidential candidates hopefuls.
According to the suspension letter signed by the NPP Director of Communications, Mr. Sherrif Ibrahim sighted by ghdominancenews.com, the suspended member was on radio Tamale’s evening political talkshow dubbed on yesterday’s Tuesday, January 4, calling the bluff of the chairman.
“My attention has been drawn to your participation in a program on Radio Tamale (a Tamale based radio station) designed for the sole purpose of advancing the campaign of a purported flag bearer aspirant. This program and your participation in same is in clear violation of a directive issued by the Northern Regional chairman of the NPP for party people to cease, among others, all media engagements purporting to campaign for flag bearer hopefuls”, the NPP Regional Communications Director, Mohammed Ibrahim Sherrif wrote.
“As you are aware, this directive of Chairman was pursuant to an earlier directive issued by National Council under the signature of the General Secretary and in sync with article 18 of the New Patriotic Party Constitution”, he added.
According to him, such activities will only distract the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, if not stopped, reason the chairman issued the directives.
“As already noted in Chairman’s statement dated 30 December 2021, the unfortunate situation of seaking before time has the tendency to disrupt H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s governance and the peace within the New Patriotic Party in the region, more so, jingles played”, Mr. Sherrif stated.
