The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Abibata S. M. Zakariah has disclosed that all the resources she spent during her campaign to contest the Yendi New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries were from her and her husband.

According to her, she never sold even a needle belonging to the father’s property or any member of her family.

“I never sold any of my father’s property to campaign. Because he left to us, myself and my siblings only education as our properties”, Hajia Abibata Shani answered the host of Gbewaa show on NTV, DJ Parara.

Hajia Abibata Shani went into the last NPP Constituency primaries with the son of former Vice President, Aliu Mahama who emerged as victor to represent the party in the 2020 elections.

Farouk Aliu Mahama polled 244 votes as against 210 and 139 votes obtained by Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakaria, a Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Loans Centre (MASLOC) and Baba Daney, a Chartered Accountant respectively.

The then deputy MASLOC boss was accused of facilitating the use of state money to allegedly induce delegates in the NPP parliamentary primaries in June 2020.

Abibata Shani Mahama Zakaria, a Corruption Watch investigation uncovered, used state resources for her personal gain in the Yendi Constituency just as other candidates were also captured inducing delegates with money, machinery and appliances in seven regions monitored.

In the Yendi Constituency, aspirants even gave out food packages including a bowl of dried fish, a box of Maggi and a pack of powdered salt.

These are part of findings from widely conducted investigations that were carried out before, during and immediately after the NPP primaries in the Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Northern and Western regions, published.
