Deputy Regional Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yussif Danjumma has reacted to comments by Concerned Youth of NPP in the region the party’s chairman, Mohammed Bantima Samba Adam is deliberately denying the NPP supporters access to the nomination forms because he wants to protect his position and that of the other executives.

Responding to the group’s press conference held today, Yussif Danjumma said the chairman of the group, Alhaji Agbaa has no credibility to criticize the Regional Chairman and his executives.

According to him, Alhaji Agbaa recently took a  sum of 2,000 GHC from Chairman Samba when he visited him in his house to brief him on the press conference today, adding that they have him on record.

“The person who read the press conference on behalf of his colleagues has no credibility. This is someone who came to Chairman Samba and took monies. About 2, 000 GHC. And informed him of the press conference today. To it will be funny to see the same person leading such crusade”, the NPP Deputy Secretary said.

“Again, we are advising them to desist from playing tribal politics. Because our party’s constitution frowns on it”, he added.

The Concerned Youth called on the leadership of the party in the region to ensure the nomination forms are available to all interested persons in the region to enable them contest for the polling station positions.

The group said this at a press conference held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium today Thursday, February 24, 2022.

“In the case of Northern Region, it turned  chaotic. And  Zogbeli, there was a serious pandemonium. The polling station elections that was supposed to be conducted in a peaceful, transparent, free and fair manner has been muddied by the incompetent, diabolical and corrupt Chairman Samba and his team”, the group told the journalists.

“The Samba team is hoarding the forms to prevent persons who are not their loyalists  from picking same to contest for the polling station executive positions (which we are asking them to make available)”, they added.

Since the party opened nomination on February 19, there has been agitations across the country by supporters of the NPP in various constituencies, who feel the incumbent executives are making moves to retain their positions.

This led to series of press conferences by the supporters in Northern Region ; Nanton and Tolon to be precise.

While some of them are accusing the regional executives, the rest are blaming their counterparts at the constituency levels for the attempts to deny them the opportunity to constest.
