Some angry supporters Real Tamale United (RTU) have called for the arrest of a die-hard fan of the clun known by many as Double describing him as violent.
In a Facebook post by a Tamale based Justice FM’s Yunus Yirifa, the journalist said, “Of the RTU incident, that wannabe comedian called Double and his cohort must be arrested.”
“Violence of any type is criminal, the club should not be the only one to be punished, those individual hooligans must equally be made to face the full rigors of the law for beating up a referee. Kudos to the fans who stood up to protect the referee from his attackers”, he added.
The Real Tamale United fans attacked centre referee following their stalemate against Aduana Stars in the matchday 21 games at the Aliu Mahama Stadium after their 1-1 draw yesterday, March 20.
Myjoyonline published that the Premier League returnees hosted the two time Ghana Premier League on Sunday with the hope of returning to winning ways.
Baba Kushibi scored in the 32nd minute to open the scoring for RTU to lead at halftime.
However, courtesy of a strike from Eric Kwakwa in the 71st minute, Aduana Stars forced the match to end in a 1-1 draw at the end of the contest.
To the shock of people watching the game, some fans of RTU broke into the inner-perimeter of the stadium and attacked the match officials.
Referee Emmanuel Adu Quansah received some beatings as well as his other assistants Courage Kuedufia Jaspa Adenyo.
The barbaric fans accused the match officials of being unfair and thereby helping Aduana Stars to earn the draw.
