Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tong Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called on Ghanaians to restrain from attacking the clegy who are on the board of trustees for the National Cathedral.
He said this when he took to social media to further share his views on the suspension of work on the project running into four (4) months today.
According to the minority spokesperson on foreign affairs in parliament, the lack of transparency in the work has led to resignation of one member, pastor Mensah Otabil, who is the general overseer of the international gospel church, subjecting the entire board to public ridicule.
“In my deeply candid view, borne out of tons of documents I have reviewed on the Akufo-Addo cathedral scandal — the eminent pastors, just like the rest of us are victims of President Akufo-Addo’s deception, lack of transparency, insensitivity, recklessness and festival of lawlessness”, he wrote.
“The clergy do not deserve to be attacked, they must not be attacked, and we must not encourage or endorse any such attacks”, the MP added.
The North Tong legislator however appealed to the discerning Ghanaians to focus on holding the Akufo-Addo led government to accountability on the project.
“Our focus must be on holding the Akufo-Addo government accountable for these grave transgressions, carried out rather blasphemously in the Lord’s holy name”, Mr. Okudzeto concluded.
