The Members of Parliament (MPs) belonging to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region, led by the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu have kicked against the sale of parcels of lands belonging to the Tamale West Hospital in the region.
At a press conference today Monday, June 20 at the premises of the West Hospital, when he was accompanied by the his colleague MPs from the nine (9) Constituencies in the northern region.
Speaking to the media, the minority leader said the NDC MPs were there as representatives of of the people, following the concerns raised by t the people with regards to the NPP government’s disregard for what belongs to the state.
“We are farthered this morning here as elected members of parliament. And the representatives of our various constituencies. And particular Constituencies of Tamale – Tamale South. Tamale Central. Tamale North and Sagnarigu Constituency. And supported by the elected representatives by Wulensi, Kumbungu and Kpandai
“We are exercising our mandate and authority as representatives of the people. On their behalf, we are strongly conveying to the president of the republic and minister responsible for lands and natural resources and all other state institutions, including the lands commission to freeze forewith any further sale. The indiscriminate sale of public lands, must freeze for an investigation to understand the justification for the indiscriminate and continuous sale of public lands, and in particular, institutional lands”, he added.
Lawyer Haruna Iddrisu also disclosed that the information available to them NDC caucus indicates that the lands in question are being sold to the NPP regional executives and supporters.
“NPP executives in Northern region and the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government are selling Dagbang lands including government lands to themselves, and the people cannot sit back and watch”, he stated.
