A senior member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the northern region, Benjamin Mensah has disclosed that he is a die-in-the-wool supporter of the vice president, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia for the party’s flagbearership contest.

He made the revelations when he was speaking exclusively on radio Tamale’s evening political talkshow with Abdul Shakun Omain on Thursday’s evening, June 23.

According to him, he has never supported the trade minister, Mr. Kojo Alan Kyeremanteng who is going for the position again after several attempts against the incumbent, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo.

“You see, this election we are going into, if not Dr. Bawumia, nobody can win power for the NPP”, he told the host.

When asked by Mr. Omain why he, director Ben attended a meeting organized by the Alan Kyeremanteng’s teaming the region, Mr. Ben replied, “Is Alan not an NPP? I went to listen to the policy he has for the NPP going forward. Not because I belong to his team. If you are not for the vice president’s, you are lost.”

For certainty, the host further wanted to know if he truly for Dr. Bawumia, “For sure (I am for the vice president).”

Director Ben, as he is affectionately called by many couldn’t mince words when he narrated how he was fought during the last NPP regional constest.

He said some of the factors used against him were religious, tribal, and factionalism which he told the host were lies, adding that he never supported Alan against the vice president.

He however stated that he was introduced to the vice president of four (4) occasions by the current regional Organizer, Alhaji Rashid Salifu C.O.P. when the NPP was in opposition, stating that it has not changed his support for him.
