“Where’s the hostel you promised to build for kayayeis”? – Lawyer Mumuni asks Prez. Akufo-Addo

Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu consitituency, Lawyer Mohammed Mumuni has asked the Nana Addo led government to show the location of the accommodation it promised to build for headporters, popularly known as Kayayeis whiles in opposition.

The former Minister for Foreign Affairs made these queries when he spoke at an event to inaugurate the campaign team for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tamale Central Consitituency.

“Litany of broken promises and dreams: they promised to build hostel for Kaayaaye, we are yet to see it. Shody works on the one village one dam projects. They can’t function during dry season. One district one factory. One consitituency one million, we all know there is nothing to show for it. Or they should show us what they have done about these”, he said.

According to him, the NDC will keep reminding Ghanaians the failed promises of the Akufo-Addo government, so that the people will not repeat the mistake they made in 2016.

“We will remind our people, they promised to do A, B, or C, have they done it?”, he stated.

Lawyer Mumuni believed the vice president, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia was misled into saying the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has performed better than the erstwhile John Mahama administration, else, the NPP would have accepted the challenge by the former president Mahama to debate on infrastructure.

In 2019 budget, president Akufo-Addo promised to build 600 bed capacity hostel for the kayayeis in the country.

The minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu is one of the top political icons to lead the campaign team in the Tamale Central going into the 2020 elections.

The team is comprised of all former parliamentary candidate aspirants of the NDC in the last parliamentary primaries in the constituency, all past and current constituency executives, etc.

On their part, the team assured lawyer Mumuni of working to increase the number of votes the NDC got in the last elections.
